Your Personal 2020 Vision of Health

January 2, 2020 by admin Leave a Comment

Happy New Year and here’s to you accomplishing your personal 2020 vision, especially as it relates to your health. You deserve it!

For many people, making healthier choices can make the difference between a successful, happy year and a challenging one. Our office is ready to help you make your health a priority so this is your best year ever!

Starting with the principle that health comes from within, making healthier choices that are aligned with your body functioning at its highest level, increasing your resistance naturally and providing yourself with good nutrition and fitness can make all the difference!

The health of your spine and your nervous system must be your number one priority! Your nervous system includes your brain, spinal cord and the 45 miles of nerves that go to every cell, tissue, and organ in your body. This includes your special senses, your gut, your muscles, heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, stomach, skin and every other cell – all quadrillions of them!

The Lifestyle Care Continuum – Crisis Care to Lifestyle Care

Crisis Care

If you really want to make lasting changes to your health, you’ve got to stop living from crisis to crisis. “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it” was the motto of many elders who defined broke as serious, life-threatening disease or severe excruciating pain. They used the personal crisis as their primary motivator to action.

This mindset and strategy can lead to a lifetime of suffering and deterioration as individuals age and these issues become chronic. Don’t wait for this inevitable reality to permanently hinder your life. Act now and let 2020 be the year you make Critical Transition to Lifestyle Care.

Children in Crisis

Birth trauma, spectrum challenges, food, and environmental sensitivities can make a child and parent’s life more challenging. Addressing the neurological component of these issues with chiropractic care is vital to immediate and long-term solutions and your child reaching their potential in life.

The Critical Transition

Crisis Care gives relief and hope as it takes the edge off a health problem. The Critical Transition gets will get you off the roller coaster. Stay committed to your care and healthier lifestyle, regardless of how you feel so your body can change.

Keeping your spine, brain and nervous system healthy enables your body to adapt in a healthy way and change for the better. Kids usually don’t require this phase of care because their conditions, subluxations, are not as chronic. If there has been birth trauma, the longer you wait (this includes adults) the more care that will likely be required.

Lifestyle Care

The intensity of your Lifestyle Care will depend on the intensity of your lifestyle and the underlying condition of your spine and nervous system. Keeping your brain, spine and nervous system healthy as a part of your lifestyle will keep you engaged in life and enable you to perform at higher levels in all areas including work, parenting, athletics and more.

Ask us what this specifically means for you and for your family members.

Primary Care

Millions of individuals and families are utilizing chiropractic care as one of their primary resources. It is holistic, drug-free and helps keep your body balanced and functioning better.

The longevity factor is becoming a reality for more people as they see their family members getting older before their very eyes. They are realizing they have to live differently if they don’t want to be a burden or suffer as they age.

Follow the path of the Lifestyle Care Continuum. Make these 100 Year Lifestyle choices today and as a result, you will more likely enjoy a sensational century.

Longevity and Performance

December 4, 2018 by admin Leave a Comment

One of the biggest stories during the Super Bowl is the longevity and performance of Tom Brady. He is redefining what is possible for athletes over forty. His nutrition and fitness routines along with his utilization of chiropractic care are well documented and vital to his success.

While healthy eating and fitness seem like common sense, so is the importance of a healthy spine and nervous system. This is the reason why so many players from the New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles will be receiving chiropractic care all season and of course leading up to the big game.

Chiropractic care helps athletes in every sport heal quickly and optimize performance.

Many of the greatest of all time have set this precedent. Current Hall of Famers Emmitt Smith and Jerry Rice are huge chiropractic advocates. Emmitt Smith is the leading rusher in NFL history, a perennial Pro Bowler and three -time Super Bowl Champion. When he retired with over 18,000 yards, Smith said, “I thank God, my family and my chiropractor.” Chiropractic care helped speed his recovery time and function at the top of his game. His career lasted nearly six times longer than the average NFL running back.

Jerry Rice is considered the greatest receiver in the history of the NFL. His durability and work ethic are legendary. He initially sought chiropractic care following an injury on the field. After learning about the benefits of chiropractic care from his teammates he made chiropractic care a regular part of his training routine and lifestyle. He is a three-time Super Bowl Champion and today he is an official spokesperson for the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress. His high-level career also lasted six times longer than the average receiver.

Another chiropractic advocate, 2012 Hall of Fame Semi-finalist Roger Craig, was a pioneer in the NFL. He is the only player to ever make the Pro Bowl as a fullback and a halfback, the first player to rush and receive for over 1,000 yards in a single season -a feat that took 14 years to be duplicated, and he is the only running back in NFL history to ever lead the league in receptions. He is a three-time Super Bowl Champion and is the only NFL player to make the playoffs for eleven straight years.

Like many children, Roger began receiving chiropractic care at an early age and today, like the others, still receives chiropractic Lifestyle Care. In fact, Roger endorsed the #1 bestselling fitness book, The 100 Year Lifestyle Workout, which he recommends for athletes, young and old, because it stresses the importance of a healthy structure, spine and nervous system with chiropractic care as a core part of the training. This helps you maximize your performance, prevent injuries and support your longevity.

We’ve all seen videos of old time professional athletes who pounded their bodies into submission and became cripples when their career was over. This is not true for these three athletic superstars and it is no longer the norm as many professional, Olympic and youth sports programs have chosen to make chiropractic care a core part of their programs and many of the leaders of the Olympic sports medicine team today are chiropractors.

All three of these athletes took a tremendous beating over their careers which began in Little League and continued into the pros. Chiropractic care as a part of their lifestyle, training and overcoming injuries has helped show us all that you can play high-level sports and retain your health after you retire. We may even see you competing on Dancing With the Stars!

Don’t wait for an injury. If you’re an athlete or participate in an exercise program, be like these Hall of Fame and Super Bowl Champions. Make Chiropractic Lifestyle Care your top priority.

How Long Do You Plan to Live?

December 4, 2018 by admin Leave a Comment

One of the fastest growing segments of the population today is centenarians, or 100-year old people. In 1980, there were approximately 17,000 people over the age of 100. Today there are approximately 80,000 people who have reached this milestone. The US Census Bureau estimates that by the time the baby boom generation reaches this landmark age, there will be more than 4.2 million centenarians in the US.

This trend holds true for other industrialized nations including Australia, Canada, and those in Europe. Many of us have noticed this trend first hand by having to cope with the challenges of our aging parents. Unfortunately, many elderly people are unprepared for their extended life.

When today’s centenarians were born in 1905, the life expectancy for a newborn was approximately 50 years. Yet many have outlived their life expectancy by half a century. If these people knew they were going to live this long, do you think many of them would have made better health choices along the way?

We are getting the advanced notice that our parents and grandparents never received. What will you do with this information? Hopefully you will choose to make your health a priority now instead of waiting until it deteriorates to choose a healthy lifestyle. The truth is that we cannot control how long we are going to live.

We can, however, control our health choices. As people age, quality of life choices take on a higher priority. Values turn more toward the physical and physiological standard of living rather than the material standard of living. After all, what good is a nice car if your back hurts too much to sit in the seat and enjoy it? Who cares what your carpet looks like if you don’t have the energy to entertain? Does it matter how much jewelry you have if you are too sick to go out on the town?

Many people spend the first 50 years of their lives ignoring their health while they accumulate wealth, only to spend the next 50 years losing their wealth to buy back their health. Knowing that your longevity potential is 100 years gives you an opportunity to place your health at the top of your value scale.

Every minute of every day we are faced with choices that contribute to our quality of life both now and in the future. We must choose between eating junk food and healthy food, being a couch potato and exercising, stressing out or looking at the bright side, getting regular chiropractic adjustments or living with the consequences of an unhealthy spine and nerve system.

Starting today, make health choices that ensure that each day will be your best, and encourage your family to do the same. After all, 100 years of healthy living is achieved one day at a time.

Painful Days, Sleepless Nights

December 4, 2018 by admin Leave a Comment

Pain can ruin your life. Whether it comes and goes in an unpredictable fashion or whether it is constant, having to manage and deal with pain on a regular basis can be exhausting. As pain becomes chronic, the joy of living disappears. Pain can take many forms including headaches, neck or arm pain, back and leg pain, stomach pain, sinus pain, and literally any or every other part of your body.

Pain that comes and goes, rollercoaster pain, is tiring and frustrating. You can’t plan your life because you never know if you are going to hurt. Before you know it, the pain, or the medication you may take to mask the pain or sleep, begins to control your life.

The challenge of this rollercoaster pain is that many people only take care of themselves when the pain reaches a point of severity that you might consider a crisis. The typical protocol in this situation is to stop your life, deal with the crisis through quick fixes such as a couple of chiropractic adjustments, or popping a bunch of pills to get some immediate relief. When the relief comes and you can rest, you are so excited to feel better that you stop taking care of yourself until it hurts again.

Here’s a little secret: in most cases when the pain is gone, the cause of the pain is still there. If you want to get off the rollercoaster you must continue doing the things that will give your body a chance to heal itself even though you feel better.

In The 100 Year Lifestyle Paradigm, we call this the Critical Transition. The Critical Transition is critical because it is when you commit to being consistent with your chiropractic care and healthy lifestyle regardless of how you feel so that your body can regenerate. This takes time.

This is like the person who finally reaches their goal weight and decides to continue eating healthy and exercising rather than reverting back to old habits that caused them to gain weight in the first place. Staying consistent when you feel better is life changing. This is the Critical Transition.

The same is true if you have acute pain. No matter what part of your body has been affected, acute pain comes suddenly with incredible suffering and inconvenience. Many people who have this type of pain will often say things like “I felt twinges there before ” or “periodically I would feel a _______.” These may be signs that an acute crisis is looming and there is an underlying cause you should address.

Chiropractic care is very effective in helping people eliminate both rollercoaster and acute pain by working with your body’s innate ability to heal regardless of how you feel. Nerve interference can cause pain in any body part as well as contribute to all types of health problems. It can also exist without pain and lie dormant for decades until your body completely breaks down.

Don’t let this happen to you. Too many people have said these powerful words, “I am in so much pain I can’t even sleep. Please help me.”
Pain doesn’t have to control your life anymore. Through this New.You. campaign, we encourage you to take a new approach to taking your pain away and then make the Critical Transition to Lifestyle Care.

A New You is only a decision away. Make the commitment to you. You will be glad you did.

Change Your Families Course of History

December 4, 2018 by admin Leave a Comment

Stop Blaming Your Genes

Here is a very important message if you want to live an active, healthy, quality of life for 80, 90, 100 years and beyond: Stop blaming your genes. Too many people rationalize unhealthy choices with words like, “Why bother, it’s in my genes.” You can’t get away with this anymore.

The lifestyle choices that you make for yourself and your family can literally change the course of your history. A family history of heart disease or cancer used to mean that it was your destiny to get those conditions too because they were “in your genes.” Through the science of epigenetics we are learning that nothing could be further from the truth. Epigenetics, which means ‘around the gene’, has shown that your lifestyle choices, both positive and negative, can influence the expression of your genes, turning them on and off like a light switch.

In the largest nature/nurture study that was ever done, on 44,000 pairs of twins, it was found that the primary determines in most cases of cancer were environmental or lifestyle factors such as tobacco use, diet and exercise habits rather than the inherited disposition of their family history.

A recent report in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences USA found the activity of more than 500 genes in the normal tissue of thirty men with low-risk prostate cancer changed after the patients began eating diets higher in fruits, vegetables and whole grains and lower in red meats and fats while also implementing an exercise and stress reducing regimen.

After three months the men had changes in the activity of about 500 genes including 48 disease preventing genes that were turned on and 453 disease promoting genes that were turned off.

Adjust Your Lifestyle
Changing the course of your history is not rocket science. Eating a diet filled with fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains and lean meats will keep you lean and healthy and they will activate healthy genes. Exercise, as a part of a lifestyle, reduces stress, strengthens your heart and muscles and has been shown to reduce the risk of nearly every disease.

Optimistic thinking has been shown to keep people motivated to make healthy lifestyle choices regardless of their circumstances. In addition, chiropractic care as a part of a healthy lifestyle, Lifestyle Care, keeps your spine and nervous system aligned, balanced and healthy and free from deterioration, this ensures that the vital messages between the brain and the body are optimized. Reducing stress is also important as stress has been shown to shorten the telomeres, or caps on the genes, which can reduce the life expectancy of your cells.

One of the life-changing principles of The 100 Year Lifestyle is “Change is easy, thinking about change is hard.” It is much easier to eat healthy and exercise regularly as a part of your lifestyle than it is to be on a weight gain-weight loss rollercoaster or to chronically have to deal with being sick or injured.

Chiropractic care as a part of a lifestyle is a much better option than the crisis to crisis suffering that comes with an unhealthy spine and nervous system. Bringing these values into your home can literally change the course of your history and ensure a healthy future for you and your loved ones.

Please take advantage of the resources our office provides to help you and your loved ones rewrite your history. Contact us to make an appointment for yourself or someone in your family. A healthy future could be yours for generations.
